Sustainability Management Alumna Lesley Jane Seymour on the Importance of Reinvention

Former Marie Claire editor-in-chief and alumna of Columbia University’s M.S. in Sustainability Management program, Lesley Jane Seymour recently published an article for MariaShriver.com, providing readers with engaging tips on how to adapt to a fast-changing world.

In “You Can Reinvent Yourself at Any Age. Here Are 8 Tips for Doing It Today,” Seymour writes, “No one, I repeat, no one, gets to their 40s or 50s in a straight shot. And with life expectancy creeping up into your 80s, you will want to remain engaged longer. Yes, life will throw you curveballs. But reinvention is a positive way to respond.”

Seymour is no stranger to the subject of reinvention. After a stellar career as editor-in-chief of Marie Claire, Redbook, and More magazines, Seymour earned an M.S. in Sustainability Management from Columbia University at the age of 62.

Seymour draws on personal experience to provide readers with helpful tips on the path to transformation and growth. Her advice includes remembering some of your earliest passionsfor Seymour, it was marine biology. And also to ignore naysayers and remember to laugh at yourself.
