Shaun Hoyte, ’16SPS, Sustainability Management, recently received the 2022 Black Achievers in Industry Award from the Harlem YMCA. Hoyte currently serves as the Section Manager for Con Edison’s Clean Energy Networks.

Established in 1971, the Harlem YMCA Annual National Salute to Black Achievers in Industry (BAI) recognizes African-American executives across the country for their achievements and success in the corporate sector. On the 50th anniversary of the award, Hoyte was among those corporate executives honored.

“I’m grateful to have been honored with the Black Achievers in Industry Award by a vibrant staple in our community, the Harlem YMCA. The work of Con Edison and so many others to create a clean energy future comes at a critical time. And Columbia University’s leadership in the development of knowledge-based solutions for climate and sustainability inspires me every day. Together, we can make the world a better place,” says Hoyte.

The BAI program encourages youth leadership by highlighting the achievements of corporate leaders, providing youth mentorship and awarding scholarships to students.

Hoyte is also an active member of the Columbia University’s alumni network, serving as the vice chairperson of the SPS Alumni Advisory Board, as well as a member of the Columbia Alumni Association Board of Directors.
