Columbia University School of Professional Studies invited 10x co-founder Rishon Blumberg to speak to Human Capital Management students in Reshan Richards’ Organizational Strategy & Learning course.
10x is a boutique tech talent agency representing top freelance developers, data scientists, blockchain experts, designers, app specialists & more. Rishon Blumberg is an entrepreneur who graduated from the Wharton School of Business with a degree in entrepreneurial management in 1994. For more than 20 years, he’s harnessed that spirit to create and lead successful organizations based in tech, entertainment, and the nonprofit sphere— finding new solutions to long-standing and emerging challenges. Rishon is the co-author of Game Changer: How to Be 10x in the Talent Economy, which he wrote with his long time collaborator and 10x co-founder Michael Solomon.
Rishon shared about his career path that has always centered around talent and engaged with students on topics ranging from modern hiring, shifts in worker needs and demands, and the intersection of learning and contract negotiation, to name a few.
When asked to identify key takeaways from Rishon’s visit, students identified the following:
- the demand for tech talent is astonishing and there is an increasing desire for candidates to find mission/product/value-alignment to their own goals
- there is a market for this kind of talent representation in the technology field
- the most successful partnerships between companies and talent are those that find ways to leverage the best working combination (hour, location, time) for both parties
- key talent may no longer be required to be focused on a single organization
