Pride Month 2023

It’s LGBTQIA+ Pride Month, and Columbia and New York City are holding multiple events to celebrate. The official theme of NYC Pride’s series of events and programming this year is “Strength in Solidarity.” Join SPS and Columbia University at events around the city, and find University resources for LGBTQIA+ students below. 

SPS Joins NYC Pride March

Sunday, June 25, noon–6 p.m.

Join the Office of Student Life as we celebrate LGBTQIA+ World Pride in NYC by being part of the Pride March. All are welcome, guests included. Free Pride swag and t-shirts. 

LGBTQ+ History Walking Tour of the West Village 

Wednesday, June 14, 3 p.m.–5 p.m.

Wednesday, June 21, 3 p.m.–5 p.m.

As part of SPS’s 2023 celebration of Pride Month, we invite you to join us on an LGBTQ+ history walking tour of NYC’s West Village! Led by Christopher Street Tours, this two-hour tour covers some of the most important history and sites in the fight for equality.

The tour will last approximately two hours and will cover one and a half miles. Please wear appropriate clothing for the weather and proper footwear. The tour will occur rain or shine, and feel free to bring a water bottle. Bathroom breaks will be available.

Mental Health Support

There are numerous mental health support systems available. Students can get support during in-person visits or virtual drop-in hours.

The Gay Health Advocacy Project welcomes students of all gender identities and orientations. Some services offered include Peeps (Pre-exposure Prophylaxis), LGBTQ support and Sexual Health Peer Counseling, and gender-affirming surgery consultation.

Gender-Neutral Restrooms

Columbia University has a gender-neutral restroom on the CUIMC and Morningside campus for students, staff, and faculty.
