John Hicks Receives the AFP’s 2021 Ralph E. Chamberlain Award

John Hicks, part-time Lecturer in Columbia’s M.S in Nonprofit Management program and Principal and Chief Strategist of DLBHICKS, LLC, has been presented the Association of Fundraising Professionals’ 2021 Ralph E. Chamberlain Award. The award was presented at the New York City Chapter Annual Meeting in January. Hicks teaches Grant Writing and Fundraising Fundamentals for Nonprofits at Columbia.

The Ralph E. Chamberlain award, inaugurated by the AFP-NYC chapter in 2012, is designed to honor an area fundraising professional for a lifetime of service to the fundraising profession and to AFP and the chapter.

With more than thirty years of experience in fundraising, Hicks provides consultation and strategic guidance for annual and capital fundraising programs. Additionally, he counsels not-for-profits on building managerial, fundraising, and board capacity. He is past president of the AFP New York City Chapter and has served as Chair of Fund Raising Day in New York, the nation's largest one-day conference on philanthropy.

AFP is the professional association of individuals and organizations that generate philanthropic support for a wide variety of charitable institutions. Founded in 1960, AFP advances philanthropy through its 30,000 members in 233 chapters throughout the world.
