Jill LaLonde Named Faculty Advisor for Columbia’s Nonprofit Management Online Cohort

Jill LaLonde, executive director of One Village Partners and lecturer in the M.S. in Nonprofit Management (NOPM) program, has been appointed as the faculty advisor for the program’s online cohort. With nearly a decade of pedagogical experience and 20 years of field experience to draw on for her leadership role, LaLonde will bring expert knowledge to educate students and prepare them for the labor market.

“The online cohort brings together an incredibly dynamic group of students from around the world, each with unique experiences and a shared passion for social impact,” said LaLonde. “I’m honored to support them as faculty advisor and hope to create a space where students feel deeply connected to each other, to their purpose, and to the practical skills that will help them thrive as nonprofit leaders.”

The program’s current demographic includes students from 15 countries and spans an age range of more than 50 years. To accommodate all students, the program’s curriculum is flexible, innovative, and designed by scholar-practitioner faculty.

LaLonde began her career supporting local nonprofits before becoming a program manager for Land O'Lakes’ International Development team. Between managing various USAID- and USDA-funded agricultural programs across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, she began teaching at St. Mary’s University and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and presenting periodically at the University of Minnesota and industry conferences, launching her career as an educator.

LaLonde currently serves as an adjunct lecturer in the NOPM program, teaching courses including Managing the Mission-Based Organization. Like many other NOPM lecturers, LaLonde is both an educator and a practitioner. As the executive director of One Village Partners, a nonprofit organization that employs a community-led development model to improve well-being, LaLonde fosters partnerships and compiles resources to achieve the organization’s strategic objectives. With experience leading a team of approximately 60 individuals and implementing sustainable programs in the health, education, and livelihood sectors, she continues to impact more than 75,000 people annually.

With her extensive experience in both education and practice, LaLonde’s undertaking of the faculty advisor role will further provide opportunities for growth and development in the online cohort of the NOPM program.
