Insurance Management Club Holds its First Event on the Inequality of Insurance Policies

The newly established Insurance Management Club held its first event on November 23, 2020, Insurance Policies Are Not Created Equal. The live event featured Dustin E. Woods, partner at Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith LLP, who led a discussion about how to approach the process of researching and shopping for insurance policies, including how to find and save insurance resources, the nuances of various insurance types and the differences between specific policies from different insurance companies.

After the main event, there was an informal Q&A where participants had the opportunity to engage in a lively discussion with the guest speaker.

“The first event went better than we could have predicted,” says Karl D. Susman, Insurance Management student and co-founder of the club. “We had dozens of people attend and feedback has been extremely positive.” According to Karl, the audience was eager to get access to easy-to-understand insurance-related information from an industry expert.

The club leaders are taking audience questions into consideration in planning their next events. For the next one, Susman and fellow co-founder R. McKay Simmons plan to organize an event that allows attendees to acquaint themselves with the building blocks of the insurance industry.

In Susman’s words, “We are already in the planning stages of another event that will highlight the insurance basics and will focus on the questions we have received and more!”
