Inside Coinbase: Technology Management Students Get a Glimpse into the Future of Regulated Crypto

In a world where crypto often makes headlines for its volatility, Coinbase is focused on something far more ambitious: building lasting infrastructure for the future of finance.

Students in the M.S. in Technology Management program’s Blockchain, Crypto, and Web 3.0 class had the unique opportunity to visit Coinbase’s New York City office and dive into the practical realities of how a leading crypto company is working to bridge decentralized finance (DeFi) with evolving global regulatory frameworks. The visit came on the heels of a major legal milestone for the company, marking a pivotal shift in how compliant crypto innovation is taking shape.

What impressed us most was Coinbase’s dual focus: pushing technological boundaries while advocating for policies that support long-term stability in the crypto ecosystem. It’s a rare balance and a necessary one.

We had the privilege of hearing from John D’Agostino, whose journey from traditional finance to Web3 offered sharp insights on resilience, regulatory strategy, and navigating shifting economic landscapes. His message was clear: the future of finance is being shaped now, and it will take both courage and cooperation.

Thank you to Professor Cristina Dolan for curating this experience, and to Rudy Rodriguez and Bridget Scott for their ongoing support and guidance throughout the program. Opportunities like this bridge the gap between classroom theory and industry transformation, and we’re grateful to be part of it.

Watch the talk with John D'Agostino below.
