Incoming student Kelsey Woody was recently selected as a Fellow in the U.S. Department of State’s Foreign Affairs Information Technology (FAIT) program. She is one of just fifteen graduate and undergraduate students selected to participate in the prestigious pipeline program, which provides up to $75,000 in scholarship money.
Kelsey, who is currently a Digital IT Strategy Consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton, plans to combine her IT knowledge with her love for travel and diplomacy.
“I want to expose others domestically and abroad to the possibilities of serving as a woman in the Foreign Service and as an Information Management Specialist. I believe that serving in the technology space overseas will allow me to gain valuable experience that few IT professionals will ever be able to acquire,” she said in a FAIT press release.
After completing the Fellowship, Kelsey will receive an appointment as a Foreign Service Information Management Specialist.
“We are thrilled. It is an honor to have Kelsey join us at Columbia to continue her intellectual and professional development with our Program,” said Art Langer, Ed.M., Academic Director of the M.S. in Technology Management Program.
Designed by the State Department to attract top technology talent and increase diversity in the Foreign Service, the program organizes professional development workshops and connects Fellows with summer internships and stipends in Washington, D.C. and a U.S. embassy or consulate abroad. The 2022 application cycle for the FAIT Fellowship program is planned to begin in September 2021.
