Construction Careers Outcomes Report: Nearly Half of Graduates Earning $100k; 88% with Positions in Construction, Real Estate, Hospitality and Civil Engineering

Columbia University's M.S. in Construction Administration program recently published a 2019 Career Outcomes report that showcases the job placements, salaries and success stories of its 2019 graduates.

In addition, the report highlights the Career Design Lab's (CDL) extensive professional development and advancement opportunities and resources available to Construction Administration students, including individualized coaching and exclusive industry networking events.

The report listed the wide range of employer partners eager to interact with students in the Construction Administration M.S. program. Among the most involved companies were infrastructure firm AECOM, real estate firm CBRE, JRM Construction and more.

Not only was the program and its intellectually driven atmosphere a breath of fresh air that broke up the routine of just working day in and day out, but going through the program has provided a strong foundation of which I can continually build off."

Minna Choi, '19SPS, Construction Administration; Senior Project Manager/ Project Controls Specialist McKissack & McKissack/ New Terminal One (JFK International Airport)

  • Thanks to the support of the program and CDL, nearly 90% of the Class of 2019 found full-time employment after graduation.
  • Nearly 60% of graduates secured roles in the construction industry. 10% of graduates secured employment in real estate, hospitality and civil engineering, respectively.
  • Most graduates (88%) pursued construction management careers in the United States with 87% finding roles in New York (87%).
  • Not only did an overwhelming majority of the students find their place and perfect fit in the construction industry, but almost half (48%) of the graduates have also landed jobs with post-graduate salaries of over $100,000.
