Columbia Bioethics Professor Sparks Fresh Pond Initiatives
Between being a health care attorney, a clinical ethicist lecturer at Columbia, and a family man, David N. Hoffman has a busy schedule. Nevertheless, Hoffman has embarked on a creek effort with the Menantic Creek Keepers to solve the creek’s poor water quality issue.
“Kayaking Menantic Creek, Mr. Hoffman observed dozens of small, dead fish on the north end, and said Mr. Grand told him that was the result of a lack of oxygen in the water” reports The Shelter Island Reporter article. With the support of the Menantic community, Hoffman and supporters will continue to focus efforts towards finding a solution through environmental consultants and engineers.
