SPS students and alumni have access to a wide variety of services through the Career Design Lab (CDL). Individualized career coaches who specialize in specific degree programs offer one-on-one sessions both virtually and in person. Their mission is to collaborate with students and empower them to take ownership of their careers. Coaches are also able to facilitate advantageous connections between students and employers.
The Career Design Lab played a vital role in securing this opportunity by establishing my connection with the USB recruiter.”
Shahbaz Nadir, ’20SPS, Enterprise Risk Management
Associate Director at UBS Financial Service
At UBS, I focus on the firm’s operational risks. I am part of the risk identification function responsible for maintaining oversight of the firm's evolving risks as part of the Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review (CCAR) process. The Career Design Lab played a vital role in securing this opportunity by establishing my connection with the UBS recruiter.
The CDL coaches helped me get ready for interviews, which helped me understand my strengths, prepare my introduction, and craft my pitch.”
Ankit Monga, ’22SPS, Applied Analytics
Amazon Intern, Summer 2022
I am excited to join Amazon this summer as a senior program manager intern. I will collaborate and partner with leadership and business teams to define and solve problems that impact customers. I will be able to leverage my background in management consulting and data sciences to identify the predictors and causes of business problems. This will allow me to then implement novel approaches for forecasting and prediction.
Having a career coach guide me through the internship search process not only helped me improve my profile, but also served as a medium to keep me focused on my goal. Having my résumé reviewed by coaches at the Career Design Lab (special thanks to Tiya, Kat, and Phyllis) and gaining access to Vmock enhanced its content and design. They also helped me get ready for interviews, which helped me understand my strengths, prepare my introduction, and craft my pitch.
[SPS faculty] were incredibly helpful and made the connection that led to me landing this role.”
Grant Mahler, ’22SPS, Sports Management
Consulting Analyst at Altman Solon
In my role at Altman Solon, I am a consultant in the telecommunications, media, and technology (TMT) sector. I’ve had a great deal of support in the Sports Management program. Tom Richardson was incredibly helpful and made the connection that led to me landing this role. Bess Brodsky was also extremely helpful along the way.
