American Language Program Senior Lecturer Presents in Cambodia on New Strategies for Teaching Academic Writing Skills

Carol Numrich, Senior Lecturer with the American Language Program (ALP), presented a paper at the CamTESOL Conference in Phnom Penh, Cambodia in early February. Her talk, “Preparing L2 Learners for Academic Writing Assignments — Teaching Discourse Synthesis,” was well attended and well received.

Like many ALP faculty, the attendees of Numrich’s presentation, mostly professors teaching in Japanese, Thai and Australian universities, are motivated to learn new strategies for teaching academic writing skills in the English language classroom that can support student coursework in undergraduate and graduate studies.

Despite the many travel cancellations due to the Coronavirus, the conference was well attended.
