Alicia Faneuil, Senior Director of Talent & Performance at ADP, Joins Integrated Talent Management Class

Dr. Steve Safier and Josh Bellis’ Integrated Talent Management class hosted guest speaker, Alicia Faneuil, Senior Director of Talent & Performance at ADP.

Alicia discussed the importance of ADP’s “Talent and Performance Credo,” which includes the notion that all employees have strengths and capacity to grow.  ADP’s Talent and Performance Credo serves as the foundation for ADP’s innovative and unique Performance Management philosophy.

As our class was learning about new approaches to Performance Management, Alicia graciously shared the following about ADP’s leading edge Performance Management approach.

Taking a stand to make changes - How ADP is changing Performance Management

1.) ADP eliminated traditional SMART goals and shifted to a simpler, more agile, and employee-driven process.

2.) Formal performance conversations moved from twice a year to weekly check-ins, which research has shown is instrumental in elevating employee engagement and performance.

3.) An annual engagement survey was replaced by quarterly “pulses”.

4.) The company said goodbye to annual forced ratings and calibrations and adopted a more reliable, real-time approach to evaluating performance using research-based questions that are asked several times throughout the. Conventional talent reviews, 9-Boxes, and succession planning, were replaced by action-oriented discussions focused on alignment of decisions.

Alicia’s Final Takeaway for Performance Management

Many organizations struggle with how to improve their Performance Management processes. With the support and commitment of leadership, a shift in mindset, and some cutting-edge technology, real change can happen!

Thank you, Alicia, for an expert, engaged and very current discussion about Performance Management as a critical strengths and culture-building process!
