Kevin Hanrahan

Kevin Hanrahan is a practitioner-educator and adjunct lecturer at Columbia University School of Professional Studies, where he teaches Technology Integration in Project Management and Finance and Accounting for Managers. 

Kevin Hanrahan brings years of executive technology and consulting experience, having served as Director at Arthur Andersen and PwC, Business CIO at General Electric, Head of IT at ING, and founder and CEO of the digital transformation firm TranSigma. His extensive background spans enterprise software development, large-scale financial systems, and strategic process simplification for Fortune 500 companies. He has led organizations leveraging his experience as a Project Management Professional (PMP), Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP), and Agile Coach.

As a Certified Public Accountant (retired), Certified Management Accountant (retired) and Chartered Global Management Accountant, Kevin has a robust foundation in public and management accounting, having begun his career performing complex audits, tax provisions, and international tax consulting at Price Waterhouse. He has held high-level executive and advisory roles—including CFO and co-founder of TranSigma, board member for multiple organizations, and financial systems leader at General Electric—bridging rigorous financial control with enterprise-scale management. His extensive professional background seamlessly integrates traditional accounting discipline, strategic corporate finance, and executive leadership.

Prior to joining Columbia SPS, Kevin taught Principles of Accounting at the MBA level at Xavier University and served as a guest lecturer on operational risk at Sacred Heart University. He has led numerous lean, six sigma and technology transformation sessions throughout his career.

Kevin holds an MBA Finance (Taxation) concentration, (magna cum laude) and a B.S.B.A. in Accounting (summa cum laude), both from Xavier University, and completed executive leadership training at GE’s Crotonville Management Development Institute.

An advocate for evidence-based management and human-centered leadership ("everything begins, and ends, with people"), he is committed to preparing the next generation of project and finance leaders with the analytical rigor, adaptive mindset, and practical judgment their careers will demand.
