Kala Nicole Washington

Kala Washington is a 2022 HBCU Fellow at Columbia University pursuing a Master's degree in Strategic Communication.  An honors graduate of North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University, Kala holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing with a minor in Finance. Kala is passionate about financial literacy and believes education is a door to opportunity.  She is a long time volunteer with the Big Brothers Big Sisters Program, and plans to continue to impact the lives of young people by advocating for affordable education and financial literacy and establishing a scholarship fund for underserved children.  Kala's other passion is environmental responsibility and she plans to use her degrees in Strategic Communication and Marketing to shape and impact public perception of environmental issues and spur individuals to take action on critical environmental issues like water pollution and global warming. Kala’s future plans are to go into tech in the advertising and branding sector.
