Umesh Akki

Umesh Akki is currently the Chief Operating Officer at Ag-Grid Energy, a renewable energy company with a focus on developing projects for conversion of dairy manure and organic food waste to renewable electricity and renewable natural gas on dairy farms across the US. Prior to joining Ag-Grid Energy, he was the head of the risk management function at UGI Corporation and was responsible for the development and implementation of an Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program across UGI Corporation. He has over 20 years of experience with risk management that is spread across energy companies including regulated utilities as well as investment banks. His experience spans in areas of market risk, strategic and operational risk as well as risk control and risk analytics aspects of commodity trading operations.

He has also held leadership roles in risk management at Exelon Corporation and Constellation Energy where he led the efforts to implement an ERM framework at Exelon and its regulated utility subsidiaries as well as led risk management teams in areas of risk control and risk. He also held management positions in risk at Bank of Montreal and RBS in New York and Stamford, respectively.

In addition to holding a Ph.D., M.B.A., M.S., and B.Tech., Akki also holds a Diploma in Computer Applications from the National Institute for Training in Industrial Engineering, Mumbai, India.
