Timothy F. Hegarty

Lecturer, Construction Administration; Partner, Zetlin & De Chiara, LLP

Timothy F. Hegarty is a partner of Zetlin & De Chiara LLP, a New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut-based law firm that represents architects, engineers, design professionals, contractors, construction managers, owners, developers, and other parties in the construction industry. Hegarty has extensive experience with corporate and professional clients in all phases of litigation and transaction. His practice areas include contracts, litigation, construction law, surety law, corporate and partnership law, insurance coverage, land use, and zoning. Hegarty serves as general counsel to AIA/Richmond County. He is the co-author of the contracts chapter in New York Construction Law, published by Aspen Publishers (March 2003), which was written and edited by the attorneys at Zetlin & De Chiara LLP. He has published numerous articles in Architecture. He has been a visiting lecturer at Columbia University, Brooklyn Polytech University, and New York Institute of Technology. Hegarty is a frequent speaker before professional audiences including AIA/Richmond County and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. He served as the town attorney for the Glen Ridge, New Jersey, Zoning Board of Adjustment from 1998 to 2001, and is currently a member of that board.
