Stephen Sigmund

Stephen Sigmund has spent over 20 years as an adviser, executive, and spokesperson to some of the leading corporations, politicians, foundations, and nonprofits in New York, New Jersey, and the nation.

He is the founding Executive Director of Global Gateway Alliance, a coalition of business, government, labor, and academia dedicated to improving the largest airport system in the country and its related infrastructure. Sigmund also serves as an Of Counsel consultant to Global Strategy Group (GSG), a leading national public affairs firm.

Previously he was Senior Vice President/Managing Director at GSG, providing counsel to clients in media, finance, energy, real estate, and infrastructure, and nonprofit and issue campaigns. He also served for five years as Chief of Public and Government Affairs for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the nation’s top regional public authority. He was Communications Director and Senior Policy Advisor for City Council Speaker Gifford Miller and Communications Director for Governor Jon Corzine in New Jersey. In addition, he held roles in the private sector at Robinson Lerer & Montgomery and AOL Time Warner.

Sigmund has written pieces for The New York TimesCapital New YorkCity and StateThe Trenton Times and The New York Observer, and appears as a commentator on communications and political issues on Fox News and on New York affiliates.

He has taught courses in media relations, political communications, and “The Master Narrative” for Columbia’s Strategic Communications program since 2003. Currently, Sigmund teaches "Working with the Media and Political Communications."
