Shelley A. Saltzman
Senior Lecturer, American Language Program; Associate Director for University Partnerships
Dr. Shelley A. Saltzman, a Senior Lecturer with 25+ years of teaching experience, specializes in English for Specific Purposes and Advanced Academic Writing. As Associate Director for University Partnerships, she works with Columbia University’s undergraduate, graduate, and professional schools to develop curricula that meet the specific needs of their international students. In 2018, she won the Lenfest Distinguished Faculty Award at Columbia. In 2015, she was awarded the international Global Legal Skills Award for her work in Legal English education. During Columbia’s Semiquincentennial, she was elected by the student body as one of “The 250 Columbians Who Have Made a Difference.” Dr. Saltzman is a frequent presenter and lecturer at campus, national, and international conferences.
Dr. Saltzman has assessed the English language skills of test takers for ETS and the College Board and was appointed as a member of the inaugural Higher Education Advisory Council of IELTS. She currently sits on the ALP Steering Committee, the SPS Executive Committee, the University Senate Education Committee, and the University Senate Executive Committee.
