Ron joins Columbia University Fall Semester 2020 as a Lecturer in the Master’s in Wealth Management Program. He is also a faculty member for the CFP® Board/Columbia University Financial Planning Teaching Program for doctoral students. Ron is currently an Adjunct Professor of Financial Planning at the University of Georgia in the Financial Planning, Housing and Consumer Economics Department, and is also a Portfolio Manager and Director of Personal Financial Planning of Eagle Ridge Investment Management, LLC, based in Stamford, Connecticut. Prior to joining the University of Georgia last summer, he was an Assistant Professor of Financial Planning at Kansas State University for eight years.
A former wealth management entrepreneur for 25 years with an additional 20 years of Money Center Bank experience, Ron earned his doctorate in Personal Financial Planning from Kansas State University in 2012 and his M.B.A. in Finance and Taxation from the University of Connecticut in 1979. His research interests are in behavioral finance, risk management and financial literacy. As a financial planning practitioner and researcher, Ron aspires to bring applied behavioral and clinical research to financial planning practitioners in an effort to provide practical solutions to client-focused challenges. Ron’s research has been published in the Journal of Financial Planning and Counseling, the Journal of Financial Services, and the College Student Journal. At the practitioner level, Ron has published articles in the Journal of Financial Planning, Trusts & Estates Magazine, Trust & Investments, Trusts and Trustees & International Asset Management, Institutional Investor, and has been quoted in various financial publications.
Ron is a member of the Stamford (CT) CFA Society, Estate Planning Council of Lower Fairfield County (CT), the National Association of Estate Planning Councils, Financial Planning Association, and the Financial Therapy Association. Ron currently serves on the Editorial Review Boards of the Journal of Financial Planning and Journal of Financial Therapy and is a member of the CFP® Board Registered Program Faculty. He is also an Accredited Estate Planner®, Certified Financial Planner®, Certified Trust & Financial Advisor, and an Enrolled Agent.
