Patrick Tobin

Director, FINRA

Patrick Tobin is a Director at FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority), where he manages a team of professionals with expertise in risk, data analytics, and technology integration. These functions support FINRA's principal mission of investor protection and market integrity. Patrick’s team works across the organization to improve understanding of industry wide and member firm risks and controls, increase the use of data and risk visualization tools, and support an overall risk-based approach to regulation.

Prior to joining FINRA, Patrick spent 20 years in management and technology consulting, with a primary focus on development and implementation of risk and information programs for clients in heavily regulated industries. His areas of expertise include Enterprise Risk Management, Operational Risk Management, technology design and controls, Business Continuity Planning, data governance, data protection, financial crime detection systems, and program management. Patrick also has substantial experience in professional services startup and operations, highlighted by expanding Kinderhook Systems from 5 to 100+ staff over a four year period, and profitable every month during that time frame.

Mr. Tobin’s hobbies include distance running and music. He was an NCAA Division I Cross Country runner and team captain at Fairfield University.
