Matthew J. Danelo, Ph.D.

Dr. Matthew Danelo has two decades of professional experience across a broad spectrum of communications, marketing, and mass media, as well as significant experience with both quantitative and qualitative research methods.
In a professional capacity, Dr. Danelo has consulted on strategic communications tactics for several Fortune 500 clients – including Cisco, Bloomberg, Citibank, IBM, AT&T, Starwood Hotels, and others. As a PR professional he was an entertainment publicist in Hollywood, and later the director of communications for the American Heart Association for the state of Texas. As a reporter for Hearst Newspapers, he covered elections – local, state, and national – hurricanes, and wrote featured profiles picked up by national news services.
Dr. Danelo truly loves teaching, interacting with students, and sharing examples from his professional experiences. He has more than a decade of in-class experience at the university level, and has taught several different classes in five separate communications programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
His academic research centers on how audiences create relationships with media systems through shared experiences. Dr. Danelo has presented in both national and international settings, and has set larger research goals of tracing more specific behavioral patterns within audiences and their relationships with media.
