Lauren Fishel

Lecturer

Lauren Fishel is a Lecturer for Networking & Sustainability (6350) in Columbia’s Negotiation & Contact Resolution Master's Program. She is also a Conflict and Strategy Consultant who specializes in social systems and solutions at Harmony Strategies Group. She has experience in policy negotiation and writing, program development, systems thinking, interpersonal communication skills building, and de-escalation. Fishel has done extensive work in Title IX and Diversity & Inclusion in Higher Education, where she has worked on developing compliance training, educational seminars and moderated town halls on various issues.

Fishel's research background includes mass media and media literacy, gender & sexuality, terrorism and counter-terrorism (with a special focus on MENA region), and international politics. Lauren's Bachelors and Masters' capstones examined the Islamic State's messaging, expansion, and operations in Syria and Iraq. She previously served as an Associate Associate for Advanced Conflict Resolution (5202) and Networking & Sustainability (6350) courses.
