Jerry Cutler

Lecturer

Jerry Cutler serves as Senior Vice President and General Counsel for The New School. Jerry has had a distinguished career in higher education, public service and private practice, having been lead counsel in numerous federal labor and employment law cases, in matters before the National Labor Relations Board and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and in labor negotiations and arbitration.

A past recipient of the American Jurisprudence Award in Trial Practice, Jerry is co-chair of the American Bar Association’s Section of Litigation, Employment & Labor Relations Law Committee, and a frequent commentator for the American Bar Association’s Litigation News. Jerry also serves on the American Arbitration Association’s Roster of Arbitrators.

Jerry is lead author of Legal Guide to Human Resources, published by Thomson Reuters. He has also written extensively for Bloomberg BNA, Warren, Gorham & Lamont, and West Publishing in publications such as The Developing Labor LawInternational Human Resources GuideEmployee Benefits LawThe Fair Labor Standards ActThe Family and Medical Leave ActDiscipline and Discharge in Arbitration; and How Arbitration Works.

Jerry has a BA from the Pennsylvania State University, and a JD degree with honors from the University of Maryland School of Law.
