Erdem Aktug

Coverage Head / Senior Vice President, Morgan Stanley

Erdem Aktug is a Coverage Head / Senior Vice President at Morgan Stanley, managing the model risk for Retail, Securitization, and FSL portfolios. In his current role, he closely interacts with Model Risk Management (MRM), Risk Analytics, and Credit Teams; covering various regulatory exercises such as CECL, CCAR, SR 11.7, and Basel III.

Previously, Erdem was a Director / Team Leader at UBS Investment Bank, managing the Credit Risk Methodology Development Team in the U.S. At UBS, he developed/managed various PD, LGD, and EAD models for Corporates and Financial Institutions.

Before UBS, Erdem was a Senior Associate / Lead Quant Bank Examiner at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York (FRBNY). In his role at FRBNY, he participated in various regulatory exercises such as CCAR (FRB Stress Test), Basel, Model Risk (SR 11.7), and Compliance Exams. In general, he reviewed various credit risk models at the largest banks in the US (LISCC Program) and assessed the impact on capital requirements.

Erdem has publications in the area of Sovereign Risk and recently taught at Baruch College M.S. in Risk Management Program. Erdem was also a guest speaker in various conferences/panels such as Risk.Net, PRMIA, and the Columbia University ERM program.
