Elyse Hoelzer

Lecturer, Strategic Communication; N.A. Client Service Director, MediaCom

Elyse Hoelzer is a Global Media Strategist who has had leadership roles at both media and creative agencies. She has extensive media management and communications planning experience and has been at the forefront of developing communications planning approaches, tools, and offerings.

Currently, she is the N.A. Client Service Director for MediaCom, overseeing the Mars business. Mars, believing that media can and should be a brand growth driver, awarded MediaCom its $2 billion global media planning business.

As Global Managing Partner at Universal McCann, Hoelzer led UM Inside. UM Inside, a breakthrough industry venture, brought together communications planning teams from the creative agency McCann Erikson and media agency UM. Its core principle was that media behaviors can and should direct creative thinking at the earliest stages of the planning process. Bringing message and media plan development together, UM Inside leveraged consumer insights to create truly integrated communications plans.

While at the creative agency BBDO, Hoelzer was EVP, Director of Engagement Mapping and developed BBDO’s communications planning approach. During this time, she won global communications planning for P&G’s Gillette and Venus brands. This was one of the first times a creative agency won a global communications planning assignment at P&G. Hoelzer has worked on a broad spectrum of brand categories, globally and in the U.S., including prestige beauty (Estée Lauder Companies), CPG (Mars, P&G, and J&J), toys (Hasbro), and entertainment (Warner Bros., Sony).
