Lecturer; Command Safety Officer, U.S. Coast Guard

Dave serves as the Command Safety Officer for the Coast Guard’s Aviation Training Center in Mobile, Alabama.  As the largest aviation unit responsible for training and standardizing the service’s 29 aviation units including pilot and aircrew training, he manages the operational and safety risk management function of the 650-person unit and serves as the senior safety officer in the aviation fleet. 

Dave’s risk management specialties involve aviation safety and risk management policy, human factors, decision making, and operational risk.

A 2020 graduate of the Columbia M.S. Enterprise Risk Management program, Dave was selected as a “Top 5 Graduate” for his positive contributions and high GPA and was selected to be the 2021 Columbia Commencement Student Marshal for the ERM program.
