The Sustainability Space: Virtual Professional Development Lecture Series

The Sustainability Space is a series of virtual, discussion-based events for students studying sustainability at The Earth Institute, Columbia University.

Hosted by faculty and student group leaders, these discussions will explore a variety of critical topics, ranging from energy to equity and more. Please join us on the following days/times:

  • Tuesday 10/20 (8-9am)
  • Tuesday 11/10 (8-9am)
  • Thursday 11/19 (1-2pm)
  • Tuesday 12/1 (8-9am)
  • Thursday 12/10 (1-2pm)

The 10/20 lecture is titled Nurturing Green Shoots: Directing Capital Into Sustainable Finance. We will hear from sustainable finance practitioners who are designing new enabling infrastructure and financial instruments to nudge capital into investments calculated to advance sustainable development, equity, inclusion, regenerative agriculture and the low carbon transition. They will describe their work, the rewards and challenges faced and the skills needed to interface between finance and sustainability.
