Construction Administration Business Practice: Design, Construction, Goods, Services, Procurement, and Contracting

The Master of Science in Construction Administration program at Columbia University’s School of Professional Studies is pleased to present a practical overview of construction administration business processes: Construction Administration Business Practice: Design, Construction, Goods, Services, Procurement, and Contracting.

Part of the program's ongoing Speaker Series, this lecture will emphasize procurement practices that enable planning, pre-solicitation, solicitation, contract award, contract administration, contract closeout, and post-contract closeout project phases. Real-world projects—some of which succeeded and some of which had more mixed results—will be discussed to illustrate these phases. The processes covered will apply to public as well as private construction initiatives.

About the Speaker

A graduate of the Rutgers University School of Engineering who attended Columbia University’s School of Architecture, Eric Carey has been employed as a construction project and contract manager since 1973. His projects include numerous U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs hospitals, clinics, and nursing homes as well as airport expansion projects.
