José Manuel Peña Mendez, CFA, M.S., is an Industrial Engineer and award-winning Data Scientist who holds an M.S. degree in Applied Analytics from the University of Columbia, New York, a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Chile, and has earned the professional designation of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
Through his 10-year career in finance, Jose Manuel has successfully implemented the use of data-driven technology using advanced analytics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) on trading desks and investment teams; led portfolio management in large multi-family offices (BuenaVista Capital) as well as portfolio manager in the largest private pension fund in Latin America (AFP Habitat, with 60BN USD AUM).
On the entrepreneurial side, Jose Manuel is a founding partner of ConnectaLabs, an Artificial Intelligence consulting firm that has developed strategic projects for the government, private sector companies and was recently invited to develop incubator/accelerator projects with Startup Chile.
