Phyllis Kolmus

As Deputy Group Director for AT&T’s OSD Programs, Phyllis Kolmus provides military and intelligence analysis, modeling and simulation and innovative business solutions to DoD. She directly oversees a $50M program with direct responsibility for management and administration of AT&T’s contract for the Information Management and Analysis Group (IMAG) and is the deputy for three additional AT&T contracts in OSD. In this capacity, she directly manages a 30-person team of software engineers and defense and IT analysts from AT&T, Unisys, SAIC, ASD, and Group W who deliver innovative business and software solutions to the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Cost Assessment and Program Evaluation (OSD/CAPE). The team’s diversity spans gender, ethnicity, national origin, religion, politics, and age.

Kolmus is a strong supporter of AT&T’s Diversity and Inclusion initiative and led AT&T into a fruitful and growing partnership with DC-based Women in Technology where she was elected President for 2013-2014. She has provided mentoring and support to the Women of AT&T Northern Virginia and Maryland Chapters. Kolmus has volunteered for WIT since 2005 and served on the WIT Board since 2010, as Programs Committee Chair. Kolmus chaired the Workforce Development Committee, 2006-2008 and was awarded Chair of the Year in 2007. She received a WIT Leadership Award as WIT Champion in 2010. She mentored the WIT Young Professional Women to build the series “Your Career: the First 5 Years” for area colleges to facilitate young professionals’ transition from the academic world to the workplace. She also served as Sponsorship Chair for the 11th Annual WIT Leadership Awards where her team brought in a record-breaking $50,000 in sponsorships for the WIT Education Foundation.

Prior to joining AT&T, Kolmus was a founder and principal of Kolmus Associates, a small business software development firm. She started her career at the OECD in Paris and joined The World Bank on her return to the U.S. In addition to earning her B.A. magna cum laude, Kolmus did graduate work in Mathematics and studied Chemistry at the University of Pierre and Marie Curie in Paris.
