Helena B. Hansen, M.D., Ph.D.

Helena Hansen is an assistant professor in the Departments of Anthropology and Psychiatry at NYU and a research scientist at Nathan Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research. She has published widely in clinical and social science journals ranging from JAMA to Social Science and Medicine, on faith healing of addiction in Puerto Rico, psychiatric disability under welfare reform, addiction pharmaceuticals and race, and ethnic marketing of pharmaceuticals. She has received major funding from NIDA, the Mellon Foundation, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
