Basel Tarab, MBE, MHA

Syrian Physician, Bioethicist, and Healthcare Administrator


Basel Tarab M.D., .M.B.E., M.H.A is a Syrian physician, a bioethicist, and a healthcare administrator.  

Basel is the Director of Patient Experience, Volunteers, and Transport, and the Co-chair of the Ethics Committee at Winchester Hospital in Winchester, Massachusetts. He is also a capstone faculty at the Harvard Medical School Center for Bioethics and an adjunct faculty at the Boston College’s Mater’s Program of Healthcare Administration.  

Basel received his MD from Misr University for Science and Technology, his MBE from Harvard Medical School Center of Bioethics, and his MHA from Boston College. He also completed a fellowship in Bioethics at the Harvard Medical School Center of Bioethics. 

Basel is a member of the American Society of Bioethics and Humanities and the current leader of the newly formed Islamic Bioethics Affinity Group.  

He is interested in discovering the similarities and differences in bioethics theory and practices across cultures and religions, specifically Islamic bioethics.
