Lydia Fass
Lecturer, American Language Program; Coordinator, International Teaching Fellows Program
Lydia Fass received her Master's degree in Teaching English as a Second Language from the University of Minnesota in 1991. She has a Bachelor's degree in International and Intercultural Communications from Macalester College in St. Paul, MN, and a Master's degree in Landscape Architecture from Rhode Island School of Design. Ms. Fass has taught at the American Language Program since 2018 and served as the Coordinator of the ALP's International Teaching Fellows Testing and Training Program since 2020. Prior to joining the full-time faculty at the American Language Program, Ms. Fass taught at New York University, Pace University and Westchester Community College.
Before she came to New York, Ms. Fass served as an Education Specialist/Level Coordinator in the University of Minnesota's Intensive English Program, and as the Program Coordinator for its Summer Intensive English Program. In 1998, Ms. Fass spent a year at EAFIT University in Medellin, Colombia serving as the Coordinator of Research and Development in the university's Language Center. In this capacity, she coordinated the Center's professional development, chaired its Academic Committee, and directed a research project on oral language instruction.
Ms. Fass' areas of interest include the training of international teaching assistants, pronunciation instruction, and curriculum and materials development.
