Advance the UN's Sustainable Development Goals: Enter the UNICC/SPS Think-a-Thon Challenge!

SPS is collaborating with the United Nations International Computing Centre to host a Think-a-Thon Challenge this summer. Students and alumni of Columbia University, along with their teams, are invited to propose solutions for challenges presented by the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Finalists will have the opportunity to present to UNICC experts, work on a real-world solution to a global issue with a Mentor/Area expert from the UNICC, UNDP, and/or UN Women, and have a chance to win cash prizes to advance their projects.

Participants will form multidisciplinary teams of 3–5 individuals and select a challenge prompt in one of the following categories:

  • Disaster Preparedness
  • Gender Equality
  • Cybersecurity

Watch Dishti Gurnani, Data Scientist at the United Nations International Compute Center and a 2020 alumna of the Applied Analytics program, introduce the challenge.

Help confront the great challenges of our time. The deadline to apply is July 8th. Join a team looking for talented new members or create a new team here. The final teams and mentors will be announced on July 13th, and the final presentations are due August 13th. August 24: Think-a-Thon Competition and Award Ceremony will stream live on August 24th.
