Edna Chun Appears on Academic Minute to Discuss Systemic Racism in Higher Education

Dr. Chun, lecturer at Columbia’s Human Capital Management program, appeared on Academic Minute to explore systemic racism through the lens of higher education.

She discussed how the topic of systemic racism has been added to the larger conversations more recently, while previously, the term was considered rather controversial on and off campuses. She also touched upon her research on how women and men of color, as well as white women in higher education, experience more mistreatment and exclusion than white men on campuses nationwide.

Dr. Chun also offered policy-based solutions informed by the findings of the research to make a positive impact, such as closely monitoring institutional processes to make outcome equality and investing in diversity education for faculty, administrators, staff, and students.
