Western and Chinese Experiences in Bioethics: What We Can Learn From Each Other: Confucianism and the Microbiome

 

Recent scientific discoveries reveal how the human microbiome – the community of bacteria and other microorganisms that live in our mouths, noses, guts, and other parts of our body – profoundly affect our health. We live in symbiotic balance with many of these organisms, but these relationships can alter, causing disease. These recent discoveries also raise critical ethical, public health, social, cultural, and policy issues.

This exciting interactive webinar will bring two together two world leaders in this area of study. Professor Yonghui Ma will explore Confucian ideas about the microbiome, and Professor Rosamond Rhodes will examine a range of other ethical questions that arise.
