Christopher P. Hagen
Lecturer, Construction Administration; Director of Operational Services, Hajoca Corporation
Mr. Hagen is a professional with over 25 years of experience in the construction industry. Growing up in Brooklyn, Mr. Hagen started in the plumbing business from the time he could pick up a wrench. Christopher worked in the field with his dad in his family plumbing business part time, throughout high school and college. Christopher received his BS degree in business management and finance from Brooklyn College. Upon graduation, Christopher went on to work at Franco Belli Plumbing & Heating & Sons while attending the Plumbers Local Union Number 1 Apprentice training program. At Franco Belli, Chris worked as a Project Manager and worked on various projects with the School Construction Authority, Port Authority, and Transit Authority.
In 1997, Chris went to work for Par Plumbing, where he worked his way up from Project Manager to Department Manager and eventually Vice President and became part of the senior management team running the day-to-day aspects of the business. At Par, Christopher first ran the municipal division where he worked on projects for the DEP, DDC, NYCHA, DASNY, SCA, and FDNY. Chris eventually moved on to head up purchasing for the company, where he overhauled a procurement system during a period of unprecedented revenue growth, helping increase earnings significantly. Chris also designed and built a 10,000 square foot warehouse, purchasing and training facility. While at Par, Chris attended Columbia University and obtained his MS degree in construction administration. Chris also became LEED-certified by the Green Building Certification Institute. While at Par, Chris was involved with the renovations of hundreds of NYC schools, several NYC firehouses, and projects at The NYC Aquarium and Bronx Zoo. Chris worked on several notable high-rise projects such as the NY Times Tower, The Bloomberg Building, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Research Center, One River Terrace, and ONE 57, to name a few.
In 2013, Chris went on to work at The Pace Companies as Executive Vice President and eventually was appointed Director of Purchasing. While at Pace Chris was responsible for the complete overhaul and modernization of the procurement process.
Upon the sale of the company Chris was appointed Chief Procurement Officer at Eaglestone, LLC (parent company to The Pace Companies) At the parent company, Chris provided oversight on best practices for all Eaglestone, LLC companies in the Northeast.
Chris is a member of the American Society of Plumbing Engineers and is a lecturer in Columbia University’s Construction Administration Program. Chris sits on the NYC Plumbing Sub Operations Committee Board. Chris was on the 2014 Plumbing Code revision committee.
Chris is a father of four, an avid gamer, and an active member of his community, where he has coached little league baseball, was a Scout Master and was the coach of the Darien High School Squash Team.
Chris teaches Introduction to Building Systems and Green Building & Sustainability: Tools and Techniques.
