With advances in technology, computer systems can now use algorithms to sort through large volumes of data. Tej Anand, a faculty member for the Programs in Technology Management at Columbia University’s School of Professional Studies, says this process will likely be a big factor in the transformation of healthcare.
In order to be successful, Anand warns that research practitioners must first pay attention to how data is extracted through the systems. In addition, they need to learn how to communicate this information to others who may not have an in-depth understanding of algorithms so they will be able to apply the information appropriately.
