Jeremy Manjorin, Chief Learning Officer at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, joins Nabeel Ahmad's Organizational Strategy & Learning Class

Jeremy Manjorin, Chief Learning Officer (CLO) at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, joined Nabeel Ahmad's Organizational Strategy & Learning class to discuss the skills learning professionals should strive for to help drive an organization's learning agenda.

During the dynamic hour-long session, Mr. Manjorin discussed topics around the responsibilities of a CLO to skills most needed in today's workforce. He also opined to the future HCM leaders in the class on the value of providing time for learning and development (L&D), as well as finding a mentor or coach early in your career.

When starting his role as CLO, Mr. Manjorin recalled the importance of connecting with and listening to leaders in the organization around their priorities, challenges and opportunity areas to formulate his learning agenda and make a positive impact to their organizational strategy. He emphasized the ability to consult and effectively manage stakeholder relationships as a valuable quality of a great L&D professional.

For personal skills, Mr. Manjorin has seen an increasing need for technical skills related to one's job role, as well as DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion) and leadership skills. Further, he made a strong case for L&D professionals to have some level of familiarity with data and analytics. This prepares them to have a plan in place to answer the question of how they will measure the impact of their learning intervention.

Finally, Mr. Manjorin underscored the importance of aligning learning to the organizational strategy in order to drive awareness, desire and consumption of learning.
