Petr Chovanec

Director, UBS Global Wealth Management

Petr Chovanec is a Director, GWMA Banking Quantitative Analysis and Data Science Team Lead at UBS Global Wealth Management where he leads a six-person team modeling and predicting the balance sheet and income statements of America’s wealth management banking. In his position, he is involved in business forecasting, product profitability, strategic planning, capital and balance sheet optimization, and various stress testing exercises (CCAR, CECL, LPA).

Prior to joining UBS, Petr was a Vice President at Royal Bank of Scotland and at Citizens Bank where he worked on capital management and also on various pre-IPO projects on splitting Citizens Bank from Royal Bank of Scotland like setting up a new fixed income and currency trading desk. Prior to that, he worked as a quant for State Street on their fixed income and currencies trading desk and in the energy company ENGiE supporting their commodities trading desk and the M&A team.

Petr has publications in the area of portfolio management and is a frequent speaker and panelist at risk management and data science conferences (Cefpro, marcusevans, Alpha Events, etc.). He is also involved in the Professional Risk Managers' International Association where he served as a Regional Director for New York from 2018 to 2021, was a judge for regional and final rounds of PRMIA's Risk Management Challenge, and currently serves as a Co-Chair of the Ethics Committee.
