Manoj Panjwani

Lecturer, International Risk Professional

Manoj Panjwani has over 25 years of international banking experience in developed and emerging markets across Asia, Europe and North America. As a member of HSBC’s International Management cadre, he has held several senior leadership positions in wholesale and retail banking, strategy and risk management.

Over the past decade, Manoj has specialized in Risk & Compliance through varied senior risk management roles with HSBC – Head of Risk Analysis Unit in Singapore, Chief Risk Officer in Poland, and Regional Head of Reputational Risk & Client Selection in North America. His risk expertise includes driving change and transformation, setting and leading the Risk agenda, establishing a robust Risk Appetite and Governance framework, and embedding a sustainable Risk Culture. Drawing on prior front-line experience and strong product knowledge, he takes a balanced and business-facilitative approach to risk management.

Underpinning Manoj’s risk expertise is deep experience in business through roles in Singapore, the UK, Hong Kong and India. In addition to his business roles, he has spent time in Corporate Strategy, where his responsibilities included development of functional and geographic strategies. Through membership of key executive committees, Manoj is well-versed with corporate governance requirements.

Beyond banking, Manoj has an interest in impact investing, sustainability, education and nonprofit initiatives. He is a member of Impact Capital Forum, Risk Management Association, and Columbia Sustainable Finance Professionals Network.

As a past student of the SPS ERM program, Manoj fully appreciates the aspirations and priorities of students.  He has a deep passion for student learning and growth and channeling that towards career preparedness.
