Nahid Oloumi, Ph.D., is an Information Technology Examiner with the New York State, Department of Financial Services (DFS) preforming security/cybersecurity reviews of financial institutions regulated by the DFS. In that capacity, she reviews Information Technology (IT) environment (i.e., systems management, electronic financial, cyber security, transactions, internet security, vendor management) utilizing the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) guidelines, National Institute of Standards and Technology (“NIST”), and Information Technology Risk Examination (InTREx) and best practices. She also reviews Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity Plans, Network connections, and Vendor Risk Management.
Previously, she has performed several Information Technology roles as a developer, program/ project manager, process re-engineering within financial services such as Bank of America, Citi Group, and Merrill Lynch. She is a former Information Technology Internal Auditor within Europe, USA and Canada.
Dr. Oloumi has achieved over $2M savings for Bank of America Capital Markets Risk Technology Management ($13M budget, 500 members) by leading implementation of standard policies/procedures, metrics and training programs, achieving CMM Level II and reducing Operational Risk by 85%.
Dr. Oloumi is a former Senior Lecturer at Carnegie Mellon University and University of Pennsylvania, teaching Computer Science courses. She is also a former postdoctoral researcher, at Carnegie Mellon University, department of Engineering and Public Policy Department, performing research to substitute robots for jobs performed by human beings.
She is a Six Sigma Black Belt and ITIL Certified and a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA).
Dr. Oloumi holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Carnegie Mellon University and a Ph.D. in Communications and Technologies from University of Pittsburgh.
