Roota Almeida

Roota Almeida is the Head of Security Governance at Amazon Stores where she leads the Security, Governance and Risk Management area to drive transformative changes and enhance information security program effectiveness.

With over 15 years of experience in establishing and maintaining global security strategies, architectures, standards, and compliance, Roota is a recognized industry thought leader. Prior to Amazon, Roota has served as a CISO for Covanta and then for Delta Dental of NJ and CT and held security leadership positions at Merck and Pfizer. She serves on the Board of Advisors at several organizations, sits as a governing body chair, is an SC Magazine awards judge and also moonlights as a Faculty.

Roota holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda in India and a Master's degree in Information Systems from Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey. She also holds CCISO, CISSP, CISM and CRISC certifications.
