Duncan Campbell

Head of Privacy Compliance for the Americas Division, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation

Duncan Campbell is the Head of Privacy Compliance for the Americas Division of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation. In this role, Duncan is responsible for the privacy compliance program spanning North and South America, and his team covers all functions and businesses. Prior to his position at SMBC, Duncan was the lead data protection counsel to all businesses and functions of the bank BNP Paribas, focusing on data privacy and cybersecurity matters. He has previously worked in data protection offices at Citigroup, EY, and Barclays as well. He is also a subject matter expert on blockchain and distributed ledger technology legal issues. Duncan has an extensive history volunteering through the NY City Bar Association, providing pro bono legal services to qualifying NYC individuals, as well as participating in Habitat for Humanity, and local food pantry programs. He has been a mentor to veterans through the American Corporate Partners program. Duncan is licensed to practice law in New York and New Jersey. He is also a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals and carries a CIPP/US certification. Duncan has been a part of the Columbia University College of Professional Studies Enterprise Risk Management program since 2017.
