Henry Gordon-Smith

Henry Gordon-Smith is a sustainability strategist and entrepreneur focused on urban agriculture, climate-smart food systems, and the responsible application of emerging technologies. Born in Hong Kong, Henry has lived and worked across Asia, Europe, and North America. He holds a BA in Political Science from the University of British Columbia and an MSc in Sustainability Management from Columbia University.
In 2011, Henry launched Agritecture, which has grown from a blog into a global advisory firm that has supported over 250 urban and climate-smart agriculture projects across more than 40 countries. Agritecture also produces the Global CEA Census, one of the most comprehensive datasets on the controlled environment agriculture industry worldwide. Henry has been recognized as a top 20 global food and agriculture influencer by Rabobank and other recognitions.
Henry is increasingly focused on the intersection of artificial intelligence and sustainable food systems, a theme he brings into the classroom as a Lecturer at Columbia University's School of Professional Studies, where he teaches graduate courses on climate-smart agriculture. He has spoken on six continents and been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, The Atlantic, and CNBC.
