Andrew Chintz develops and implements programs and projects to finance and deploy energy efficiency and clean energy initiatives with a focus on affordable housing, community development, and the public sector markets.  His successful approach to sustainable financing has benefited from a deep interest in developing smart solutions in the built environment.  Mr. Chintz has over 30 years of experience as a senior level municipal bond and real estate credit and transaction expert, primarily at MBIA, a municipal bond insurer, where his focus included affordable housing and public/private/partnerships.

Currently, Mr. Chintz is the Financing Advisor for the NYC Accelerator, a technical assistance program sponsored by the NYC Mayor’s Office of Climate and Environmental Justice to support building stakeholders in meeting the City’s climate action laws, particularly Local Law 97, NYC’s Building Performance Standard.  Previously, he consulted on NYSERDA’s RetrofitNY initiative, to drive a scalable, whole-building approach for net zero energy buildings by adapting the European “Energiesprong” model which uses prefabricated building components.

Mr. Chintz participates on several nonprofit/government boards focused on energy efficiency, affordable housing and historic preservation. He was a founding Board member of the Energy Improvement Corporation, where he was instrumental in developing and launching New York State’s PACE program. Mr. Chintz is the Treasurer of Bedford 2030, a local climate action nonprofit organization.  He received a B.A. from Connecticut College, an M.S. from Columbia University in historic preservation/urban planning, and a Certificate in Sustainability Finance from Columbia University’s SUMA Program.
