Al Zeitoun, Ph.D.

Lecturer, M.S. Project Management

Dr. Al Zeitoun, PMI Fellow, is a civil engineer, and lecturer in the discipline of Project Management and Program Management at Columbia University School of Professional Studies. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering from Oklahoma State University (OSU), with a specialization in Construction Management. He also holds a M.Sc. degree in Civil Engineering from OSU and a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt with a focus on structural engineering.

Dr. Zeitoun is an active Strategy, Business, and technology Transformation Delivery Executive, For more than two decades, Zeitoun has invested in leadership development through training, keynotes, conferences events, panels, debates, and mentoring learners in change management, critical thinking, and project management mindset. He has built his impact crossing the globe, and has dedicated his life journey to the world of project and program management. He led complex initiatives across industries, consulted, and delivered workshops and presentations across global events in Europe, North America, and the Middle East. He’s all about creating organizations and ways of working that create the next generation’s human-digitally balanced way of working.

His John Wiley books, publishing, and research focus on the enablers for project management excellence for the Next Generation, Program Management, and the ways of creating the strategic project mindset and the organizational cultures that use effective Project Portfolio management to drive strategy execution value creation.

Dr. Zeitoun is a member of the Project Management Institute (PMI) where she has served in many capacities including on its Global Board of Directors. He is a Fellow of the Institute since 2019.

With over 30 years of combined academic, consulting, and industry experience, Dr. Zeitoun is committed to preparing the next generation of project leaders by integrating real-world complex programs’ insights, applied research, and industry-informed practices into the classroom. He is fluent in English, German, and Arabic. Outside of his professional life, he enjoys his family, tennis, travel, and innovation.
