Master of Science in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution

Columbia University’s Master of Science in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution prepares students to analyze the root causes and dynamics of conflict and to transform disputes through reasoned and resourceful interventions.

The program has On-campus or Online (with Residency) modality options, which are outlined below. More information about the curricular requirements is available on the Curriculum & Courses page.

Full-Time On-Campus

  • Start: Fall
  • Complete the program in 3 semesters: Fall - Spring - Fall
  • Modality: in-person on Columbia's New York City campus (some electives may be online)

Part-Time On-Campus

  • Start: Fall
  • Complete the program in 4-6 semesters
  • Modality: in-person on Columbia's New York City campus (some electives may be online)

Full-Time Online (with Residency)

  • Start: Fall
  • Complete the program in 3 semesters: Fall - Spring - Fall
  • Modality: online & one in-person residency (2-3 days required) on Columbia's New York City campus

Part-Time Online (with Residency)

  • Start: Fall
  • Complete the program in 6 semesters
  • Modality: online &  one in-person residency (2-3 days required) on Columbia's New York City campus

*International students are responsible for ensuring they have read and understand the University’s student visa application eligibility and requirements. Please note that it is not permissible to enroll while in B-1/B-2 status. Students on an F1 visa are permitted to complete no more than one online class each semester.

Full-Time Online (with Residency)

Pathway Option: Fall - Spring - Fall

The required residency consists of 2-3 days on-campus for orientation, before the start of the Fall semester. After the required days, students have the option to remain in-person for an additional 2-3 days of programming.
